  1. Hey guys, I think your enthusiasm and efforts on my favorite subject matter are great. My only problem is that I prefer to read than listen (I’m a pretty fast reader/skimmer). Would it not be possible, and not too demanding, to transcribe your comments to print? With all your collective high tech knowledge and the availability of transcribing apps I hope this request gets on your to-do list. Thanks! g

  2. So a little clarification about the bonus experience of Starsector – Troy suggested you get a bulk refund in experience when using a story point, but that’s not the case. Instead you earn experience twice as fast until you’ve earned enough to make up the refund. So if you get a 100% “refund”, you essentially earn your next point twice as fast.

  3. Thanks for the show. Great as usual.

Nate, there’s 13 DLC on Stellaris. And it’s been 25 months since release. That’s one DLC every two months and in no way that translates well to the idea that a game to keep being maintained needs this type of approach. Thank goodness it doesn’t, or we would all have much smaller game collections because of the prohibitive cost of this hobby.

On the other hand, what Paradox DLC and free content changes have been doing to their games since Crusader Kings, is making the games virtually impossible to track for anyone coming to them late in the game life or who, like myself, went a couple of years without playing it. Paradox games are complex and with so much DLC and changes in mechanics, it’s incredibly hard for content creators to to keep up with their How-To guides and for gamers to find the relevant ones that can help easy the learning curve.

It’s all fine when you are enjoying these games while you are enjoying these games. But for everyone else trying to get into them 2 or 3 years after release, it’s a nightmarish ride through youtube and paradox forums that often doesn’t even pay off when you are already burning out a couple of weeks into the game after 1 or 2 months of learning it.

    1. Well, I speak for myself, but I play the game a couple of weeks every few years or so, and it’s fine. But you also make a great point. I have to relearn the game. But that’s the case for most 4X titles. If you don’t conta tly play the you forget how. At least I do.
