  1. The thing with AI war is that the AI provides a tough challenge because the game isn’t symmetrical. The AI plays by different rules than the player, which immediately means it doesn’t need to measure up to a human intelligence. Compare that to the traditional 4X game where the AI plays by the same rules as the player, and that’s when shortcomings relative to human performance stand out a lot more. So I think statements that the game’s AI is “good” are more than a bit influenced by that different kind of perception.

  2. the state to name the 1.0 patch of predestination a beta was also surprising me. i realy like that some developers still use the beta-stage and not just hop over it to full release even the game isn’t ready.

    thanks for the show :)

  3. Wow 1.3 million that’s amazing guys. Keep up the good work!

These days 1.0 most of the time does indeed feel like beta so thumbs up for them calling it what it is. Sadly not many games ever reach the 2.0 state which seems to be the point games start feeling complete.

Amplitude hiring an AI designer is the best news I’ve heard in a while. Their games are so amazing but the AI in them has always left me feeling hollow after cracking down the mechanics of the game.
