  1. Fig absolutely does show the pledge total including post-campaign pledges. It’s right there on the campaign page. At this moment the Phoenix Point figure sits at $771,893 versus $765,948 pledged during the campaign.

  2. Just to be clear, the only intellectual property of Wargaming that is in Remnants are the race names. Everything else is completely new… code, artwork, ui design, writing/lore, music. Wargaming specifically asked me, very reasonably, to not use title “Master of Orion”, which was on the opening UI at the time. They did not ask me to change the name from “Java MOO”, but that was implied for me since “MOO” = “Master of Orion”.

There can be legal repercussions for getting this wrong, so I just wanted to clear this up.

Also, it’s written in Java, not Javascript. The former is the world’s #1 programming language, the latter is garbage. Big difference!

  3. oh yeah, magic the gathering….had good times playing it.
took me some time and money to collect some of the dual-lands of the second edition.
need to take a look for my cards this evening….just to check on em, didn’t look at them for the last 15 years i think.

are you guys trying to establish the steam talk as a running gag or so?
it always comes up again but what i remember the conclusion mostly is like: oh well, it’s steam, they do strange stuff

    great show, thanks!

  4. Great show, guys! Thanks.

Troy, are you actually going to play Eador Imperium? I was not sure how serious you were about giving it a try now it’s had a few more updates. Listening to your comments I could not help chuckling a bit, as I’ve followed it for a long time and have similar feelings.

I’ve been looking for a fantasy 4x that strikes a good balance between the strategic and tactical layers, something that hits a sweet spot where both are developed enough so as not to feel simplistic while not so much as would create a morass of micromanagement and tedium. My sense is Imperium might offer this but for its _atrocious_ ui. Feature-wise and mechanics-wise, the game is not unappealing.

    • My time is limited right now, so when it comes to gaming, I have to be choosy. I absolutely LOVE fantasy 4X games, but I’m not sure I’m ready to sink that much play time in to Eador Imperium right now. I’m torn. There’s a couple other games I need to play, but man, the sandbox mode in E:I does sound so fun.

      • Yes, I know the feeling. :)

I absolutely LOVE fantasy 4X’s too, btw. It’s not that I don’t enjoy space-themed 4X’s (though with such a slough of them lately my appetite has waned some) but I do wish there were more fantasy ones to choose from. Preferably in vein of Master of Magic… From listening to the shows and reading your comments over the months I gather you’re a fan of that old gem as well, unless I’m quite mistaken. Where are all the nuMoM’s, dammit?!

Whenever you have an opportunity I would be interested to hear what you regard as the best fantasy-civ type games (apart from MoM, that is) and any upcoming ones you think are promising. Good luck finding time to play eventually. Looking forward to reading/hearing your comments when it happens. Anyway, thanks. :)
